Both have been linked with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I possess a special job here at a special club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and declare what they were, but naturally it's a massive football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy played for Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of reaching that stage, due to a productive Nations League performance, even if they not end up Group J second place.

Considering his present position, Bellamy, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the earliest.
